I went to the small town of Surin for their annual Elephant Festival, but I found the rice farmers to be the highlight of my trip. The town of Surin, is located in the North East part of Thailand and takes 10 hours by car or a 19 hour train ride from where I live in Bangkok.
I had always wanted to see the elephant festival and was focus on that event, I hardly thought of capturing the people and landscape surrounding my friend's farm.
I tried to capture some of the daily routing of the village life. The bugs were intense this time of year, so I was covered in bites and and the farmers lit smoky fires in the evening to keep the bugs away from their livestock.
